Information Assurance Education Programs
The Cybersecurity and Privacy Initiative (CPI) serves as the focal point for education, interdisciplinary study, and outreach in cybersecurity and privacy at Western Washington University.
The CPI provides the following services: program guidance and oversight, curriculum development for specialized programs and for inclusion in other programs and courses, general promotion and dissemination of information, creating awareness, promoting interdisciplinary cooperation, promoting and coordinating research, and supporting outreach and collaboration opportunities among students, faculty, other institutions, and the community.

Dr. Fretheim has a master's and doctorate degree in electrical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He also has an MBA in International Business from Long Island University and a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy. He was previously the executive director and professor at the Technology Institute at City University in Seattle.
